October 2025

Hello from Malawi,

As always, we hope you are all well as you receive this update from us this month. We
are so, so grateful for your faithful partnership in the Gospel.
Before we get to our highlights from October (and the first half of November), we want
to take a minute to promote the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for 2025.

As the holiday season approaches, Southern Baptist churches across America give
special attention to the annual missions offering that supports missionaries on the field.
This special offering is not exclusive to SBCs only. Individuals like you can also
contribute to maintaining a global missionary presence. Would you take the next couple
of months to pray and consider these amounts related to the cost of missionary
presence?
$250 = 1 day; $1,750 = 1 week; $7,500 = 1 month; $91,250 = 1 year
The generosity and sacrifice of believers like you have enabled Christ’s name to be
proclaimed through IMB missionaries, such as our family. Such steadfast and faithful
support has now yielded Baptist mission organizations and local ministry partners
around the world who are working together with the IMB for the spread of the gospel.
For more information, visit www.imb.org/lmco.

As a shameless plug, you can give through our team's page (below), and it still goes
toward Lottie Moon!
Also, please let us know if you or your church would like a personalized LMCO video
from our family and/or team in Malawi! We would love to send one to you!

Highlights from last month!
  • Chris and a national partner were able to return to an area in Malawi where we held
an Evangelism training this year to hold a church leaders' training.
  • We continued meeting with our front porch Bible study group each week. We're not
only eating a meal and studying God's Word together, but we're also going out to
share the Gospel with the people who live and work in our community. We're currently
walking through the book of Matthew, sharing the stories as we go, so that we can
easily share what we're learning with those around us.
  • Chris submitted his final chapter of his dissertation for review by his supervisor!
Praise the Lord! Hopefully, he can have it ready to send to secondary readers before
    the end of the year.
  • Our family visited a few local Baptist churches around our community as we seek to
strengthen our commitment to partnering with the Baptist Convention of Malawi.
  • We hosted another Home Missionary Training conference. It was such a blessing to
teach together on ministering as a Biblical family. The home missionaries were also
trained in Evangelism among people groups different from their own.
  • Jamie and Ezekiel had an excellent trip for medical appointments near the end of the
month. We praise God for his provision.
  • We had to postpone our "Stay Up All Night" night due to scheduling conflicts, but we'll
have updates next month about how it went in November this year!

What's Coming in October?

By God's grace:
  • Chris traveled and taught last week with our local pastor Abusa Tandani at a pastors
    and church leaders' training.
  • We will continue our Front Porch Bible Study.
  • Jamie and the kids will continue plugging away at school.
  • The new president of Malawi will be inaugurated on October 4th. Please pray for a
    continued peaceful transition.
  • Chris will continue writing his dissertation. He gets closer every day!
  • Our month is filled with several in-person and virtual meetings as we plan and
prepare for ministry moving forward in Malawi and across Sub-Saharan Africa.
  • We're hosting another Home Missionary Training conference, October 14th-18th. The
focus during this training will be on ministering as a Biblical family and Evangelism
among other people groups from your own.
  • Jamie and Ezekiel will be traveling for some medical appointments this month.
  • We'll have our family's annual "Stay Up All Night" night this month! (Yes, we are
    getting too old for this!)

Ways You Can Pray

  • Please pray for a peaceful inauguration and a smooth transition between the current
    and new presidents and administrations.
  • Please pray for our Front Porch Bible study as we continue to memorize stories for
evangelism and practice sharing them with our neighbors, friends, and families. Pray
that the Lord would use these disciples to make more disciples for the sake of His
    great name!
  • Please pray for the Home Missionary Training this month. Please pray for the logistics
and safety of everyone traveling to Lilongwe. Please also pray that the Lord would
use us to encourage these couples to follow Scripture's teaching on the family.
  • Please continue to pray for Chris as he juggles numerous responsibilities, including
completing his dissertation. Please pray for his roles as husband, father, brother in
Christ, missionary, supervisor, employer, guest house manager, logistics coordinator,
    and PhD student.
  • Please pray for all our strategy and planning meetings we have this month. Please
pray for wisdom and direction from God as we plan together with our brothers and
    sisters in Christ.
  • Please pray for Jamie and Ezekiel as they travel this month. Please pray for the
    medical appointments to go well.
  • Please pray for the lost with whom we are sharing!!
  • Pray that we would remember our primary objective as Christ followers is to be with
    Him!
